Virtual Bridal Showers: Ideas For Games, Activities, & Entertainment - Hummingbird Wedding Advice (2024)

Entertaining guests at virtual bridal showers can be slightly dauting, but entirely possible.

Virtual events have become crazy popular since the pandemic started. They have allowed us to celebrate even when we couldn’t physically be together. There is a light at the end of a tunnel with this pandemic, and in-person events are acceptable again. However, there are still benefits to virtual events that will never go away.

For starters, virtual events allow guests who live far away to celebrate with you. They are also less expensive than in-person events. They take less time, and there is no pressure about finding a venue and space for a group of people. Long story short, even when the world opens up again, virtual bridal showers and events will continue to be hosted.

Hosting virtual bridal showers can be a tricky endeavor. This is a whole post about it. The host has to find a way to make it engaging, happy, and special for the bride. They don’t have the usual in-person engagement to rely on to entertain guests. Essentially, the host is the guiding person for the event, choosing how to make it a great one for all involved. The good news is that there are lots of different ways to make it a great time for guests, even if they are still looking at a screen in their own homes.

How To Entertain Guests At Virtual Bridal Showers

This post is going to walk you through the various ways to entertain guests at virtual bridal showers.

The ideas are compiled from different sources, and also from my own creativity when thinking of ways to modify in-person bridal shower games. Some activities require a little planning up front, and others can be chosen on the fly. All of them can be modified to fit the bride you’re celebrating, and will be remembered by the guests you are entertaining.

Have fun checking them out!

VIRTUAL BRIDAL SHOWER GAMES

Depending on the group, games can be a great way to have a little fun and change things up.

Some of these games are meant to be played virtually, which makes things easy. Some are traditionally in-person and can be modified to be played virtually, with the use of technology. So, pick and choose what works best for your group and technical skills.

Bingo

We all know how Bingo works, right?

Each player has a little card with 25 different options on it. Traditionally, these would be numbers that are pulled by a host and crossed off by the player. However, these little options can be changed to say words or just about anything. The great thing about Bingo is that it can be customized to fit any event, and it can be played in person or virtually. To have guests play Bingo at virtual bridal showers, either send them cards ahead of time, or have each guest print it off. Remember, each card should be a little different from the others.

A fun variation on Bingo is to have guests try and find common virtual occurrences and then cross them off their card once they happen. Examples would be for them to cross off when someone has a technical issue, uses a digital background, takes a photo for social media, or is wearing a specific color. You can be creative and get very personal with it. The first guest to cross off a row of occurrences wins a prize.

Name That Song

Name That Song could be played virtually or in person, so take notes if you’re having an in person bridal shower soon.

To play this game, first make sure that each guest has the ability to write down their answers. Pick about 10 songs, and simply play that song for 10 seconds. Each guest needs to guess the name of the song. It’s that simple. Since this is for a virtual bridal shower, you could pick love songs with a theme. For example, Disney love songs. Or love songs from the year the bride was born or graduated high school. That sort of thing.

Friendly Feud

Friendly Feud is a variation of the Family Feud.

For a virtual setting, you can download a customizable version of the board from Etsy that is normally seen on the game show. This board is typically a spruced up PowerPoint presentation. It may include some fun aspects like sounds and music. For the questions, the host can gear them towards the bride and groom, and have guests just shout out the possible answers. For example, a question may be “Where does the couple like to go for dates” and the possible answers could be “Restaurants”, “The Beach”, and “The Movies”, or something like that. Any question that could have two or more possible answers fits the criteria.

This is a great game to get the energy flowing but not necessarily needs to have all guests play. Some can just watch and enjoy, and others can totally tune out. If the questions are engaging enough, everyone will have fun.

Memory Game

The Memory Game is absolutely something that can be played virtually or in person.

To play this game, simply get a photo of something “bridal” or “wife” related and flash it on the screen. It could be a series of photos, too. For example, a basket of household items. Or, a series of different homecooked meals. It could even be wedding related, or bride-specific. Whatever it is, have guests try to remember what they saw and then write down as many things as they can on a piece of paper. The guest who remembers the most amount of items is the winner.

VIRTUAL BRIDAL SHOWER TRIVIA

Trivia games can be really fun, and as specific to the couple as you want them to be. Many of these examples can also be used for in person bridal showers.

Trivia Maker

Trivia Maker is a virtual trivia game.

There is a free trial available on their website, which is perfect for one time virtual bridal showers. The concept is simple. The host can customize questions about the couple, and then shares their screen to the guests. There is no limit to how many people can play, other than the limit on Zoom or wherever you are virtually hosting. Guests can then keep track of their scores on a sheet of paper or can even do this digitally.

As for the questions, they can be really generic and multiple choice, or very specific. Examples would be where the couple went to high school, or what they like to eat for breakfast. Definitely recruit the bride for help with this game!

Famous Pair Trivia

Famous Pair Trivia requires no fancy website or help to create.

The concept is simple. The host of the virtual bridal shower simply shows a photo of one half of a famous couple. Guests write down their answers. This is pretty easy to create on PowerPoint, and then share your screen during a Zoom call. The guest with the most correct answers, wins.

How Old Was The Bride?

How Old Was The Bride is also a very easy game to create and play.

In PowerPoint, or whatever you like to use, show photos of the bride at various ages. Guests need to correctly guess how old she was in each of the photos. You can also include photos of the bride’s partner, of course. This is a really cute way to see how the couple has aged over the years and is a fun guessing game.

VIRTUAL BRIDAL SHOWER ACTIVITIES

Not everything has to be a game at virtual bridal showers. In fact, having some sort of tangible activity can be really fun and memorable, too.

DIY Beauty Treatments

Have each guest give themselves a little DIY Beauty Treatment while the virtual bridal showers are actually going on. This takes a little planning, but can be really fun. For example, send guests a little manicure or pedicure kit ahead of the shower. While the shower is happening, have them do their nails.Depending on your guests, you could also have them use a mask and lotion for a quick facial.

Make or Bake Something

If planned correctly, this can be really cute activity at virtual bridal showers.

Ahead of the shower, send guests supplies to make or bake something. This could be anything that you are comfortable teaching others to do. Ideas that come to mind are crafts, drinks, appetizers, or baked goods. To properly plan this out, either send a list of items to obtain to each guest, or even better, create a kit for them and have it delivered to their homes. You may even be able to find companies who already help with this sort of thing.

During the virtual bridal shower, walk guests through the steps to create something fun. The goal would be for this activity to take half an hour or less, and also be fairly simple to explain and create.

VIRTUAL BRIDAL SHOWER CONVERSATIONS

Okay, if all the games and activities are just a bit too much, you can absolutely stick to conversations. Check out these suggestions for guests to “go around the room” and say to the bride as the virtual bridal shower is in progress.

Date Night Ideas

At my bridal shower, guests wrote on little cards different date night ideas for my husband and me. Why not have guests just say cute date ideas for the couple on screen? Bonus points if someone can capture them for the bride and send them to her afterwards.

Marriage Advice or Wishes

To create a special moment with the bride and each guest, everyone could offer some advice or wishes for her. Again, simply have guests take turns speaking, and if at all possible capture it for the bride as a sort of gift later on.

VIRTUAL BRIDAL SHOWER PRIZES

If you plan on having games, you may want to also have some prizes, so let’s go over some ideas for those!

The goal with virtual bridal showers is to offer prizes virtually. Let’s keep it simple! For example, you can email gift cards immediately after the shower to the people who win the games. Gift cards to Starbucks, Amazon, and Target are almost always appreciated. If you want it to be a bit more tangible, just send guests whatever you would have given as a prize at an in person bridal shower.
